Oliphants!

Our rondavel

View from our porch overlooking the watering hole

Our dinner/Sporkful shot: on the left the Tri-Nations Burger (the 3 nations obviously being chicken, kudu and bacon), and on the right a kudu burger.

Warthog crossing the street

Various oliphant photos - some were probably as close as 6" to the car. Insane.

The biggest oliphant we've ever seen.

More random oliphants. We saw about 20-30. And there was no one else there the whole time we were watching them - about an hour. Crazy.

Kudu crossing the street.

This is awesome. One of the olifants eating almost looks like he is smiling. KZ

Is a kudu a variation of an antelope? Very cool elephant shots (or am I supposed to call them 'oliphants'? help!)

i believe kudu is from the same antelope-ish family. on menus and on bags of dried meats, we've seen "springbok/kudu/various antelope", so i do believe it's part of the same extended family...

and yes, that oliphant was smiling as he smashed tree limbs into his face...yum!
